The club is run in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the training is geared towards self defence and self development. We do not enter competition tournaments, our kung fu is not a sport. Our philosophy is that we only compete against ourselves which aids in constant personal development and promotes the correct martial arts ethos.
Most martial art clubs do gradings every 3 to 6 months, we do not grade in this way. We believe that when the student is ready and confident, then they will be graded. Up to brown sash there is no time limit on when a student may grade. Also all grade re-takes are free of charge.
Everybody is an individual with different strengths, weaknesses and abilities. At Black mountain Kung Fu we understand this and we work on what the individual can improve on.
Training is suitable for all, the only restriction we have is that children must be 10 years of age or older. However we do reserve the right to decide whether or not we take you on as a member after an initial probationary period.
We do not train bare foot but practice wearing trainers, if you feel like coming along just turn up at the club wearing loose fitting clothing and the first lesson is Free.
